OCEAN CRUISES

The world has a lot of coastline.
Let’s make excellent use of it.

From famous harbors and sun-splashed islands to places you may never have imagined reaching by ship, ocean cruising opens an astonishing amount of the world—and offers almost as many ways to experience it.

Somewhere between where you were and where you’re going is an amazing day to simply enjoy the romance of the sea.

THE BEAUTY OF TOO MANY CHOICES

Ocean cruising has a glorious problem: choice.

Big ships. Small ships. Yacht-like ships. Floating resorts. Quiet ships. Lively ships. Ships where dinner is the evening’s main event—and ships where the waterslide wins.

Add hundreds of itineraries, cabin categories, fare types, dining styles, and destinations reaching around the world, and yes—it can feel like a lot.

That is also the magic. All those choices mean there really is something out there for almost everyone. This is the part I love—understanding what makes each experience different, learning what lights you up, and connecting you with the ship and journey that feel right.

Calling all of this “an ocean cruise” is like calling every restaurant “a place with food.” Technically accurate. Not terribly useful.

NOT ONE KIND OF VACATION

Same category.
Very different personalities.

The ship is not simply how you get there. It shapes your days, your evenings, and the way the entire journey feels.

01

Big, bold, and brilliantly busy.

Broadway-style shows, water parks, dozens of dining choices, late nights, and enough activity to make sea days feel very short indeed.

02

Polished and easygoing.

Thoughtful dining, comfortable ships, engaging entertainment, and a balance between life aboard and time exploring ashore.

03

Small-ship and destination-led.

Fewer guests, a quieter rhythm, longer port days, and access to harbors that the largest ships may never enter.

04

Yacht-like and deeply indulgent.

Beautiful accommodations, highly personal service, refined dining, generous inclusions, and the feeling that the ship itself deserves a place on the itinerary.

A MUCH BIGGER MAP

The Caribbean is wonderful.
It is not the entire ocean-cruise world.

Ocean cruising reaches iconic capitals, tiny islands, dramatic fjords, ancient ports, tropical coastlines, and entire regions many travelers never initially think of exploring by ship.

Sun, islands, and easy escapes

The Caribbean, Bahamas, Bermuda, Mexico, Hawaii, and the South Pacific.

Europe from every angle

The Mediterranean, Greek Isles, Adriatic, Baltic, British Isles, Norwegian fjords, and Iceland.

Big scenery closer to home

Alaska, the Pacific Coast, Canada and New England, and the Panama Canal.

Asia and the Pacific

Japan, Southeast Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and island chains scattered across the Pacific.

Grand World Cruising—and other long horizons

Have 100-plus days? A Grand World Cruise may be calling. Don’t happen to have four months hiding in the calendar? A regional segment—or a cruise focused on South America, Africa, the Indian Ocean, or a transocean crossing—delivers a very grand slice of the world.

THE QUESTIONS THAT CHANGE THE ANSWER

Hundreds of ships.
Five questions that actually matter.

I do not begin with a cruise line. I begin with you.

01

Is the destination the star—or is the ship part of the reason you’re going?

Both answers are completely valid. They simply lead to very different ships and itineraries.

02

Do you want buzz, breathing room, or a little of both?

Some travelers want choices from morning until midnight. Others want a favorite chair, an open deck, and no announcement telling them what happens next.

03

What should “included” include?

Drinks, dining, Wi-Fi, gratuities, shore experiences, and airfare can be packaged very differently. The fare is only useful once we understand what sits behind it.

04

What does a perfect day at sea look like?

A spa morning? A cooking class? Pool time? Trivia? A long lunch? Absolutely nothing? Sea days reveal a ship’s personality faster than a dozen open browser tabs.

05

Who is traveling—and what will make each person happy?

Couples, solo travelers, families, friends, and multigenerational groups can all love cruising. They may not love the same cruise.

THE MATCH IS THE MAGIC

There is no best cruise.
There is a best fit.

I am not here to point at the newest ship and declare victory.

I am here to listen to how you like to travel, explain the differences that can get lost among polished websites and very similar promises, and turn an overwhelming number of possibilities into a short list that makes sense.

Your vacation should fit the people taking it. When the ship, destination, rhythm, and little details all line up, ocean cruising can feel less like choosing from a catalog—and much more like discovering the trip that was waiting for you.

IS OCEAN CRUISING RIGHT FOR ME?

It may be—especially if you like your vacation with options.

You want to experience several destinations within one journey.

You enjoy choosing how lively, quiet, social, indulgent, or active each day becomes.

You like the idea of pairing discovery ashore with comfort and choice aboard.

You are traveling with people who may want different things from the same vacation.

You are curious about a part of the world you never realized could be explored by ship.

OCEAN CRUISE QUESTIONS

A few useful answers
before we start narrowing the field.

Are ocean cruises mostly in the Caribbean and Mediterranean?

No. Those are wonderful and popular regions, but ocean cruises also sail throughout Alaska, Canada and New England, Northern Europe, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, the South Pacific, South America, Africa, the Indian Ocean, and many other corners of the world.

How do I choose the right cruise line and ship?

Start with the experience you want rather than a logo: destinations, ship size, onboard atmosphere, dining, activities, pace, cabin, and what is included. From there, I can narrow the field to the ships and itineraries that genuinely match your priorities.

Are smaller ships always more luxurious?

No. Smaller ships may offer more intimate service and reach smaller ports, but size and luxury are separate choices. Some small ships are wonderfully casual or adventure-focused, while some larger ships offer exceptionally luxurious accommodations and services.

Does a bigger ship mean a better vacation?

Only if the features of a bigger ship are the features you want. More restaurants, entertainment, and activities can be terrific. So can fewer guests, quieter spaces, and smaller ports. “Better” begins with what matters to you.

Is ocean cruising good for families or groups?

It can be excellent because everyone shares the journey while choosing different activities, dining, and time together. The ship matters enormously: facilities, accommodations, children’s programs, accessibility, and atmosphere vary widely.
